A practical two-day low-risk defensive driving course for P1 and P2 provisional drivers, helping new independent drivers develop safer habits, hazard awareness and practical risk-management skills.
Passing the driving test is the beginning, not the end.
Getting your provisional licence is a major milestone. It is also the point where supervised driving ends and you begin making decisions on the road independently.
Queensland Government road safety data shows that a new P-plater's risk of a serious crash is significantly higher than when they were driving under learner supervision.
Roadcraft's Provisional Driver Course is designed specifically for this transition.
Across two days, participants examine the factors that influence risk once they begin driving independently, including vision, situational awareness, following distance, decision-making, vehicle dynamics and the development of safe driving habits.
Classroom education is reinforced through practical exercises on Roadcraft's purpose-built training facility, including emergency braking and activities on wet training surfaces. These exercises allow participants to safely experience vehicle limitations and understand how quickly an everyday driving situation can develop into an emergency.
The emphasis is not on teaching advanced driving techniques or creating greater confidence. It is on recognising risk earlier, making better decisions and reducing the likelihood of an emergency occurring in the first place.
The goal is simple: to help provisional drivers make the transition from supervised learner to safer independent driver.
This course is subsidised with a $180 discount through funding from the Queensland Government’s Community Road Safety Grants Scheme.
