Nationally Recognised Training logo

Registered Training Organisation | RTO 41542

Nationally recognised training available in selected driving and towing units.

Two-day nationally recognised 4WD training developing practical skills in vehicle preparation, low-risk four-wheel driving, steep terrain, rugged conditions and safe vehicle operation.

Nationally recognised 4WD training.

TLIC0023 – Operate four wheel drive vehicle develops the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a four-wheel drive vehicle across both on-road and off-road environments.

Roadcraft delivers the unit through a combination of classroom education and extensive practical training on our purpose-built 4WD facility near Gympie.

Participants develop an understanding of four-wheel drive systems, vehicle controls, pre-departure checks, terrain assessment, appropriate gear and range selection, tyre considerations and the techniques required to maintain safe vehicle operation across changing terrain.

Extensive practical 4WD training.

Practical activities progressively develop participants' ability to operate a 4WD across increasingly demanding terrain.

Training includes vehicle positioning and control, braking, uneven and articulated terrain, mud and slippery surfaces, steep ascents and descents, rugged terrain and water crossings.

Participants are also introduced to recovery equipment, recovery points and common recovery hazards, helping them understand the risks associated with vehicle recovery as well as techniques for reducing the likelihood of becoming immobilised.

The focus is not on extreme four-wheel driving. It is on operating the vehicle safely, understanding its capabilities and limitations and selecting appropriate techniques for the terrain and conditions.

Designed for workplace 4WD operation.

The course is particularly relevant to employees required to operate 4WD vehicles on unsealed roads, tracks or off-road terrain as part of their work.

Roadcraft's practical training environment allows participants to experience terrain and vehicle behaviour that cannot safely or appropriately be recreated during normal on-road driver training.

Nationally Recognised Training.

TLIC0023 – Operate four wheel drive vehicle is a nationally recognised unit of competency.

Participants who successfully complete all required training and assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Roadcraft Driver Education, RTO 41542.
