Our training complex at Gympie is a purpose-built facility which provides the safest possible practice circuits. Our course helps participants to gain an insight into their vehicle and its peculiarities, their own capabilities and how to improve them, and how to predict problems and avoid them. Your caravan / towing driving skills are enhanced as is your appreciation of the road and traffic environment.

  • This is an accredited course (Drive and Manoeuvre Trailers AURTGA001). A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon completion which some insurers will consider in providing discounts on insurance.

Day One

Introduction (classroom)
Foundation techniques (theory)
Vision enhancement and steering (practical)
Vehicle dynamics (practical)
Kinetic energy demonstration
Emergency braking (straight-line) – dry & wet (theory and practical)
Brake and evade (theory and practical)
Hook up and safety chains (practical)
Braking system check, correct brake adjustment and application (practical)
Trailer plug and lights inspection (practical)
Load distribution (practical)
Lane change and sway management and control (practical)

Day Two

Reversing and guiding development and practice, caravan parking practice (theory and practical)
On-road low-risk defensive driving (theory)
Smooth driving principles, energy management (practical)

On road development including negotiating tight turns in suburban areas (practical)
Communicating effectively (practical)
Towing and low-risk driving strategies (practical)

Courses must be paid for in full before attending. However, we offer a variety of payment options as follows:

- Cash or EFTPOS payment during office hours
- Over the phone using a Visa Debit or Credit Card
- Via EFT (details are included within your course invoice and funds must be received prior to course commencement)

We understand that sometimes, even with the best intentions, the best-laid plans go awry. However, from the time that you make your booking your place in the course is held for you. This means that, should someone else want to make a booking and the course is full, we may not be able to take that person.

We ask you to please understand that, should you cancel your booking, the following will apply:
- Cancellation more than 14 days before the course: 100% refund
- Cancellation less than 14 days: we will keep payment, but you can re-book for a future course

Yes, you need to bring your own vehicle and caravan/trailer for this course so that you can learn how your own towing combination reacts in a range of scenarios.
Chilled drinking water, tea and coffee are readily available. Our on-site kitchen with microwave and refrigerator is available should you wish to bring food or drink with you on the day.
Whilst you’re welcome to purchase lunch from a nearby service station, please note that the lunch break is very short.

The One Day course is a great refresher for those that might just need to update some techniques. The Two Day course gives much more practical time and is great for beginners or those with limited towing experience.
