In Partnership – Roadcraft and John Madill Toyota
As a not-for-profit, community owned organisation, Roadcraft Driver Education relies on positive partnerships to best serve the community and its mission. Roadcraft has enjoyed a long and close association with the Madill family for over 41 years. The late Tom Madill was a foundation member and was later granted life-membership for his role in the organisation’s inception and for his ongoing support.
John Madill Toyota was Roadcraft’s major sponsor for 19 years before the company was sold to the Motorama Group in March 2020. Still trading as John Madill Toyota, the new owners have maintained the same level of support for Roadcraft and, earlier this month, Roadcraft took delivery of three new Camrys, all heavily subsidised by John Madill Toyota.
Thanks to John Madill Toyota, the Roadcraft training fleet is updated every three years so our customers are always treated to great quality, modern Toyota vehicles for their training.
Sometimes as part of our high school cohorts, we are working with young novices with very limited exposure to the driving task. All of our Roadcraft teaching focuses on techniques for any driver, regardless of experience, to be safer, more aware and more attentive. This is why we choose to have all automatic cars in our training fleet. Rather than teaching manual driving, we can instead concentrate on effective strategies to keep our valued clients safer on the road.
John Madill Toyota also funds the dual control systems in Roadcraft’s training sedans. All Roadcraft Driver Educators are qualified to take control of the vehicle from the passenger seat, utilising these dual controls. Modern, dual-controlled automatic vehicles combined with Roadcraft’s purpose-built training facility and our passionate, experienced and qualified Driver Educators provide for the safest driver education environment.
41 years ago, Tom Madill believed that effective education was the key to reducing road trauma and threw his support behind the concept of the new Roadcraft facility and curriculum.
41 years on, the team at Roadcraft and John Madill Toyota couldn’t agree more. Everyone at Roadcraft is so very grateful for the ongoing support from the current owners of John Madill Toyota. It’s clear they endorse Roadcraft’s mission and it’s a fantastic partnership.
Dealer Principal, Simon Guthrie said, “When you go to Roadcraft you can’t help but feel the passion the team has to make our roads safer and to save lives through driver education. You are drawn in when you hear with such enthusiasm and dedication about the training Roadcraft provide and how they continually look to innovate to keep delivering the very best driver safety training.
John Madill Toyota are very proud of our history with Roadcraft and we are delighted to continue to play our part in supporting such a wonderful organisation.”

Vale Scott Reedman
Earlier this month we were devastated to hear that John Madill Toyota had lost one of their best. Scott Reedman was a JMT salesman for over 20 years and did so much great work for Roadcraft. He was an all-round great bloke and was always quick to assist with anything that was needed. Scott will be greatly missed by those who had the good fortune of dealing with him – indeed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
