Description

This course is designed to optimise a young driver’s awareness of vehicle dynamics and is structured over 2 days. This program centres around the importance of vision, dynamic feel and preparing participants’ awareness for any potential situation that may arise.

The Learner Driver Awareness Course focuses on all young drivers, regardless of their ability, who currently hold a Learner’s Licence. It is recommended that Learners have between 30 and 50 hours of driving experience when they attend the course, but please feel free to contact us and discuss.

 

This course is subsidised with a $165 discount through funding from the Queensland Government’s Community Road Safety Grants Scheme.

Curriculum

Day One

1 – Introduction (classroom)
2 – Vehicle management techniques (theory and practical)
3 – Kinetic energy demonstration
4 – Emergency braking (theory and practical)
5 – Brake and evade (theory and practical)

 

Day Two

1 – Cornering (theory and practical)
2 – Curve braking (theory and practical)
3 – On-road low-risk defensive driving (theory)
4 – On-road low-risk defensive demonstration drive (practical)
5 – Discussion – minimum risk and maximum safety (classroom)

FAQs

How do I pay for my course?

Courses must be paid for in full before attending. However, we offer a variety of payment options as follows:

– Cash or EFTPOS payment during office hours
– Over the phone using a Visa Debit or Credit Card
– Via EFT (details are included within your course invoice and funds must be received prior to course commencement)

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that sometimes, even with the best intentions, the best-laid plans go awry. However, from the time that you make your booking your place in the course is held for you. This means that, should someone else want to make a booking and the course is full, we may not be able to take that person.

We ask you to please understand that, should you cancel your booking, the following will apply:
– Cancellation more than 14 days before the course: 100% refund
– Cancellation less than 14 days: we will keep payment, but you can re-book for a future course

Can I purchase a Gift Certificate for someone else to do a course?

Yes, you can! Call us on (07) 5482 8833 to learn more and purchase.

Do I need my own vehicle for the course?

No, our Learner Driver Awareness courses are conducted in Roadcraft dual controlled vehicles.

Will lunch/refreshments be provided?

Chilled drinking water, tea and coffee are readily available. Our on-site kitchen with microwave and refrigerator is available should you wish to bring food or drink with you on the day. Whilst you’re welcome to purchase lunch from a nearby service station, please note that the lunch break is very short.

What do I need to bring on the day of the course?

– Driver’s licence and logbook
– Hat
– Sunscreen
– Lunch and snacks
– Water bottle
– Sensible shoes

Does this course provide official accreditation of any kind?

Unfortunately, this course does not provide official accreditation of any kind.

Will this course count toward my logbook hours?

There is only a small section of the course that counts towards logbook hours.

Do I need driving experience?

Yes, we like participants to have at least 30 hours of driving. This course is about teaching you to stay alive, not the basics of how to drive. However, if personal circumstances make this requirement difficult, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss further.
